Too much desk work and too little exercise. This is one of the things that worry me now that I work full time using my computer and the Internet. Except for my fingers, no other part of my body seems to be getting the exercise it rightfully deserves. The result, unwelcomed and unsightly body fats, most of them in the middle section. Plus, too much sitting down is not working wonders for back either.
Lack of exercise is perhaps one of the biggest problem of those who have to be in front of their computers at least 15 hours a day. I don’t even have the time to go to the gym or just walk around the neighborhood. Solution? A home medical equipment that would give me the opportunity to exercise while doing my work—well, most of the time.
I found what I was looking for in Battle Creek’s The Pedlar, a very sleek and compact exercise machine that is touted to provide cardiovascular strength. It is said to be effective in exercising both the upper and lower parts of the body although I’m not sure about the upper body part since I imagine myself still sitting down and tinkering with my keyboard while doing the pedals. For sure, it will exercise my knee joints and othr parts of the feet.
The rubber pedals and the straps assure me that I do not slip easily and my feet remains where it is supposed to be.
Exercise? Finally, I hope.

The cabbage that we know is not just good for coleslaw. Instead of including it in our menus at least two to three times a week, this vegetable remains unnoticed in supermarkets. Why? Because a lot of people are not aware of the therapeutic effects brought about by cabbage.
In the Middle Ages, cabbage was used for medicinal purposes aside from being a staple food in countries other than the US. As proof, here is a quick list of its many health benefits:
Cabbage is an excellent source of essential vitamins A, B, C and E. Raw cabbage is rich in folic acid which helps prevent birth-related diseases. It is also rich in fiber, and it contains chemicals which help prevent colon cancer. Ulcer, rheumatism, heart disease and skin problems are other diseases that this therapeutic vegetable can help heal.
To enjoy the full health benefits of cabbage, you can consume it raw, drink the juice or cook it lightly along with other green and leafy vegetables for a low-calorie and extremely healthy dish.

The Raw Facts about Raw Food
What started as a trend in California a few years ago is now a way of life for many people in many areas of the country. They are known as Raw Foodists, but that doesn’t mean that they must only eat raw foods, it just means that they eat some type of raw food every day.
When the public first became aware of the “Raw Food Diet”, it was primarily hyped as another “miracle weight loss diet”. Little attention was given to the facts about the nutritional benefits that raw foods actually provide for health. Although modern science has made it possible to process and preserve food without losing all of the natural nutrients, raw food is still the healthiest. The vitamins, minerals, and natural enzymes found in fresh foods touched by nothing other than nature are believed by Raw Foodists to be the most healthful to our bodies.
If you would like to find out more about the nutrition facts related to the raw food diet, http://www.newstarget.com/019322.html.

I am worried I might already be suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. I am a heavy computer user and I have already accepted that among the possible illnesses I will suffer from due to my work, it would either be eye strain or wrist strain.
Most of those who suffer from the syndrome are people who have diabetes, arthritis or are obese. I am not a diabetic nor do I have arthritis and I am positive I am still below obesity range so it must be prolonged periods of computer use.
My doctor suggested a home medical equipment like the Reversible Wrist Splint by Alex as a short term treatment. However, he advised me not to constantly use the splint while working on the computer if I do not want my wrists to weaken. The splint is comfortable though since it is elastic and literally fits like a glove.
Well if you are feeling the same symptoms—-painful wrists, weakness and a tingling sensation—chekc with your doctor first because the splint is not recommended for self- treatment.
Well, I have avoided all activities that will make use of my wrist but I could not keep myself from the computer. It’s work.

Asthma is on the rise these days maybe because of the increasing pollution in the surroundings. It’s funny how the increasing number of vehicles on the roads have resulted to a corresponding increase in the number of people getting asthma and related diseases.
If you travel to work or to any destination everyday then you are exposed to a lot of bacteria and pollution. The emission of cars, the sneeze of another person….these are only some of the factors that contribute to the rise in bronchial diseases.
This may be the reason why most people have gotten accustomed to wearing a home medical equipment like 3M’s Nexcare All-Purpose Mask. It is effective because it is able to filter out up to 99% of the airborne bacteria that could have been inhaled by the wearer if not for the mask.
It may look unomfortable but it actually makes breathing easier while reducing the amount of bacteria that is usually inhaled by a person.
I used to sneer at people who started wearing masks at the height of the SARS outbreak. But after acquiring asthma (no thanks to smoke-belching vehicles) I began to appreciate the necessity of wearing masks as soon as I leave the safety of my home.

At first glance, the Littmann Veterinary Stethoscope by 3M looks just like the ordinary stethoscope being used by my doctor or his aide when I go to the clinic for a check up. After reading the home medical equipment’s name for the second time though, I realized this was not for humans but for animals needing veterinary care.
I have seen my veterinarian use this home medical equipment on my pet dog when he wants to physically assess him or dianose whatever it is he may be feeling. There are occassion when Polka does not feel well so I call the Veterinarian now and again.
Most animals are uncomfortable when an alien object like a stethoscope is placed on their body Not this stethosope though as it is very comfortable with a non-chill diaphragm and rim.
This equipment is very light too so doctors can easily carry them anywhere. And you thought only humans suffered from being poked around by a doctor’s stethoscope.

Children should not be suffering from physical disabilities at all since they are too young for that. Children ought to be enjoying life and not spending it lying down just because they have difficulty getting up or sitting down.
I have seen some kids who were forced to just stay at home because of their pysical disabilities. These kids were not even doing anything productive like basic writing or reading because they lack the means to do so.
There are home medical equipment that can respond to the special needs of a special child. Drive Medical’s MSS Tilt And Recline Chair For Kids can provide support to children with moderate to serious physial problems or disabilities. The chair’s 45 degree-tilt feature will allow kids to be as comfortable as possible while reading or even watching their favorite show.
Moms and caregivers can even just recline the hair from 80 to 140 degrees if the child accidentlaly falls asleep while on the chair. The chair can even be used for low floor activities as it has an option for low or high wheeled base.
The chair responds perfectly to a special child’s needs. Consider these features: a footrest, seat, armrest, headrest and lateral support with height and depth adjustment; pelvic belt that can be adjusted to the child’s size, a tray that can be used for writing or even during mealtimes; and cushion covers that can be easily removed and washed.

Don’t you just love going to a restaurant to dig into a bowl of Manhattan clam chowder for a sip of some pick-me-up food? Aside from the mood boosting effects of the dish, you can also take advantage of the sea of nutrients offered by the clams, oysters, mussels, shrimps, scallops, fish fillet and crabs.
Shellfish, in particular, offers a wide array of nutrients. If you are on a no-red meat diet, shellfish is a good, low-fat alternative to get the daily protein fix that you need.
Clams and mussels are rich in vitamin B12, iron, magnesium and potassium. The vitamin B12 content of these two types of shellfish – as well as scallops, shrimps, and cuttlefish – provides good resistance from infection. Oysters are also rich in vitamin A which helps promote good eye sight and healthy blood cells.
Finally, shellfish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which reduces the risk of heart disease and lowers your cholesterol level. There is virtually a sea of nutrients offered by these type of foods, so start cracking up those shells and dig into the nutritious goodness of shellfish.

Have you ever watched your child devour an entire bag of Doritos during homework time? Or had to forcibly remove the candy dish from the hands of a child who was cramming for a test? I used to think that my kid was just using food as a distraction from the homework, but I’ve been proven wrong. It turns out that food actually feeds the brain, though candy and Doritos aren’t good choices.
Carbohydrates are what kids need for maintaining focus while studying. The brain requires glucose (blood sugar) to stay in focus and attentive. The brain also uses glucose as fuel (energy). Candy, sweets, and chips provide quick bursts of energy that fade just as quickly. Slowly absorbed carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables and grains offer longer lasting mental energy and clarity. These types of carbohydrate healthy foods also provide a slight boost to the bodies’ serotonin level, which has a calming effect. This is very helpful for kids who tend to feel stressed by homework and teachers, and tests.
http://health.kaboose.com/nutrition/snacks.html has some tasty suggestions for study treats that will feed your kids brain.
