Is There A Really, Truly Free Diet Plan?

free.jpg

The answer to the question is, yes.

Across the World Wide Web, you will be able to find many places that offer a free diet plan. However, not all of those will be healthy or help one to lose weight. Some of the sites will offer a free diet plan, but once it is further investigated, one will find it is merely a fad.

A smart way to find a good free diet plan is to speak to your doctor and follow his/her recommendation. Most medical professionals recommend a 1,200 to 1,500 calorie a day plan (depending on the person and circumstance). It will hardly ever be recommended to go below 1,200 calories per day or you could lose your hair, your muscles, and all your friends due to irritability.

Most anyone who offers a free diet plan will include a menu full of fruits, vegetables and lean protein. This is a sensible and healthy way to eat anyway. Cutting down on fat intake as well as carbohydrates and including exercise will usually help anyone lose weight.

Of course there is the ultra ridiculous category you will come across when searching for a free diet plan. So beware.

Basically a free diet plan can be achieved at anytime. It is a healthy way of eating and changing lifestyle habits to get to a more lean you.

What Is Allowed On The Grapefruit Diet Menu?

grapefruit2.jpg

Even though eating a half a grapefruit or drinking a glass of grapefruit juice with each meal is a good way to get your three daily servings of fruit, following the grapefruit diet menu may not be a good idea.

The grapefruit diet menu calls for eating only a ridiculous amount of calories (800 calories) a day total. This is not something that can be done for long nor is it healthy.

However, some do have an initial success with the grapefruit diet menu due to the fact that calorie intake is so low. But usually this type of diet leads to rebound weight gain.

The grapefruit diet menu is as follows:

Breakfast
• 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. of unsweetened grapefruit juice
• 2 eggs prepared any way you like
• 2 slices of bacon

Lunch
• 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. of unsweetened grapefruit juice
• Meat any kind and any amount.
• Salad.

Dinner
• 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. of unsweetened grapefruit juice
• Meat or Fish any kind cooked any way.
• salad
• 1 cup of coffee or tea.

Bedtime
• 8oz. glass of tomato juice or 8 oz cup of skim milk.

The grapefruit diet menu is severely low in calories and should be approached with caution. As with any diet, make sure to check with your doctor before beginning the grapefruit diet menu.

The Importance Of The Nutrients Provided By Wheat Germ

Wheat_20Germ.jpg

If there is one grain which deserves to have a crown in the health benefits department, nothing will probably beat wheat germ. You may be more familiar with wheat in its ‘processed’ form: whole wheat bread, noodles and cookies. However, the processing of these food items has taken away almost 50% of the nutrients that you can gain from wheat in its natural form, that is why it is crucial to pick the right types of food which contain unprocessed wheat germ.

Generally, wheat germ is rich in dietary fibers, vitamins B6 and E, as well as folate, thiamin, zinc and magnesium. All these vitamins and nutrients combine to make wheat germ a power-packed health food which also serves as a good antioxidant. More importantly, wheat germ and other whole grains lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.

If you have absolutely no idea how to enjoy wheat germ in its unprocessed state, just a quick search on the Internet will result to hundreds of recipes on how you can incorporate wheat germ into breads, muffins, biscuits, pancakes – even pizza! How’s that for food innovation?

Monitor Patients Better With Drive Medical’s Pressure Sensitive Chair & Bed Alarm System

How many caregivers have been caught unaware of the whereabouts of their patients until they have been declared missing? Caregivers are only human and they sometime fall asleep or get into deep conversations with others so they sometimes fail to monitor their patients. However, this should not be reason enough to get entangled with some lawsuit just because your patient got the better of you.

There is a way to monitor your patients more efficiently and that is through Drive Medical’s Pressure Sensitive Chair & Bed Alarm System. This home medical equipment can lessen the pressure of having to watch your patient at all times especially when you have to use the restroom or do something important.

This bed alarm system makes use of a pressure sensitive pad which alerts you whenever it detects movement from the patient. Thus, expect an alarm to either wake you up or alert you when your patient attempts to get up.

The pad is sensitive to pressure so any movement from the patient will trigger the safety alarm. Of course, the alarm comes with an on and off switch so just make sure you put the alarm on when you leave the patient by himself of if you could not watch him a hundred percent.

It makes use of a 9- volt battery but no worries since there is a warning when the battery level gets low. You can choose to buy a bed pad measuring 11″x30″ or a chair pad measuring 10″ x 15″. But why not buy both since they are really very helpful not only for big hospitals or small clinics but also for home use.

How Does Diet Tea Help You Lose Weight?

 tea.jpg

Diet Tea has been used as an aid for weight loss for quite some time. If one drinks diet tea, a cup with each meal, it can aid the body in many ways as well as being used successfully as a metabolic stimulant.

Diet tea, sometimes referred to as Green Tea, by itself only has a minimal 4 calories per serving. It is most healthy and has the fewest calories when consumed with nothing such as sugar or crème added.

The way that diet tea is said to aid in weight loss is the caffeine in tea increases body function to help burn more calories. Also the polyphenols in diet tea seem to help in the digestion of fat. This is what lends credence to the name diet tea.

Green Tea, Pu-erh and Oolong teas have received the most attention regarding weight loss and are most thought of when one speaks of diet tea. However, any type of tea offers a low calorie substitute to commercial sugary beverages.

Of course before changing your habits on what you consume, make sure to check with your doctor. Some people cannot tolerate caffeine and it might be a poor health choice to take up drinking large amounts of diet tea in this case.

Figs For Big Health Benefits

ca_figs.jpg

Brown turkey, Kadota, Calimyrna, Celeste, Magnolia, Mission and Adriatic may sound like unusual names but these are actually some of the more popular varieties of figs. There are probably hundreds of variants of this unusual fruit, whose appearance is similar to that of an inverted flower. Each fig variety has its own unique color and flavor, but they all have one thing in common. Figs are nutritious, deliciously sweet and they are a known cure for a number of illnesses.

Figs are an excellent source of potassium, fiber, iron, calcium and magnesium. These fruits also contain vitamins A, B1, B2, and B6. Vitamin B6 is particularly useful in lowering your blood cholesterol.

In addition, figs are good antioxidants, they help regulate the functioning of the intestines, they are great blood cleansers and finally, they are beneficial for the liver. When you are at the gym, a pack of dried figs as a snack can be consumed as an alternative energy booster. Fresh figs have a short lifespan, though. They only last for about a week after the fruits are harvested so the fresh variety should be cooked right after purchasing.

Urinating In Style With Medegen’s Bedpan Pontoon

bedpan

If you haven’t tried using bedpans before then you might laugh and deny the possibility that you may have a need for one in the future. I was like that before, thinking that bedpans were only for old people who couldn’t stand when they need to urinate. Until a friend of mine got pregnant.

Her pregnancy was very delicate so she was advised to rest the whole six months of her pregnancy. Doctor’s order was for a complete bedrest so she was not even allowed to use the bathroom which was located several rooms away. The only thing that saved her from further humiliation was Medegen’s Bedpan Pontoon.

We were really laughing about it because she had no choice but to follow her doctor to avoid any problems with her pregnancy again. To make up for her uncomfortable situation, I bought her some fashionable bedpans. Yellow is her favorite color so you can guess what bedpan color she was using all throughout her delicate condition. You can also get one in pink though.

The bedpan, which has a maximum patient load of 250 lbs., was ideal for her as she was about 160 lbs only even though she was pregnant. It also had a front rim which allowed her as steady grip while using or emptying the bedpan.

My friend has given birth already but she still keeps that bedpan for posterity sake.

Therapist Select Compact Percussion Action Massager With Heat By Homedics: Home Solution To Stress

back

The Therapist Select Compact Percussion Action Massager with Heat by Homedics is one of those affordable and easy to use home medical equipment that can provide comfort after hours of stress. Working at home can be as stressful as working in a real office especially if you have to take care of children or you have other responsibilities to attend to. At the end of the day, it seems that all your muscles are sore from sitting down and from just thinking about how you can possibly do everything given 24 hours a day.

I usually have backaches and muscle aches after one whole day of sitting in front of my PC or my laptop. The latter makes my muscles stiffer because I use it in my room sans any table and chair. You can guess how that feels when you have to use your laptop for hours while in a crouched position.

I always dream of going to the spa to have an hour of massage but it’s just not possible considering my schedule. But this lightweight equipment can do the trick as it can serve as my personal massager. The heat emitted by the massager is just enough to provide comfort and relieve muscle tension.

So the next time you feel sore all over, think about getting this equipment.

Delicious, Nutritious Artichokes

artichokes.jpg

I’ve always thought that artichokes looked like an edible and larger version of those cones which are used to decorate Christmas trees. When I was a kid, my grandmother used to cook meals for us with artichokes. Being the vegetable hater that I am back then – I practically had to beg my mom to stop my grandma from forcing me to eat artichokes.

Fortunately, vegetables became more palatable for me as I grew older. Little did I know that I was missing a lot on the nutrients by passing on eating artichokes. This member of the thistle family is low in fat and calories. It is also an excellent source of fiber to aid digestion. The flower-like globe artichokes – which come in green and purple varieties – are rich in folic acid, protein, iron, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, magnesium and carotenoids which the body converts to vitamin A. All of these components contribute to the fact that artichokes can help prevent the risks of certain cancers, heart disease and birth-related defects.

Whether you like them stuffed, steamed, baked, or as part of an appetizer or salad –these ‘hearty’ and healthy artichokes are a definitive addition to any meal.
