Do You Know What Angioplasty Is

angio.jpg

Angioplasty is a term that refers to the mechanical widening of a narrowed or totally obstructed blood vessel. These narrowed blood vessels are often caused by atherosclerosis.

The angioplasty surgery includes all vascular interventions typically performed in a minimally invasive method.

There are several types of angioplasty. The most common angioplasty for dealing with the heart is coronary angioplasty.

Coronary angioplasty.
Coronary angioplasty is a procedure to treat narrowed coronary arteries of the heart found in coronary heart disease. These narrowed pieces are due to the build up of cholesterol that forms. This procedure is usually performed by a cardiologist.

You may be a good candidate for an angioplasty if:
The blockage is small
The blockage can be reached by angioplasty
The artery isn’t the main vessel supplying blood to the left side of your heart
You don’t have heart failure

For most people, coronary angioplasty greatly increases blood flow through the previously blocked artery. Your chest pain should subside, and you may have a better ability to exercise.

Lifestyle modifications will help you maintain your good results, including:
Stop smoking
Lower cholesterol levels
Maintain a healthy weight
Control other conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure
Get regular exercise

What Is Weight Loss Camp

camp.jpg

What is weight loss camp? Well, it’s a way to whip your weight loss program into shape.

It is also a term for a type of program where overweight and obese people go to lose weight. They are also referred to as a fitness camp and ‘fat farm’.

The differences between weight loss camp and any other ordinary camp is that it typically provides nutrition classes, weekly weigh-ins, and many more aerobic-based classes. The main goal of the weight loss camp is to enhance the health of the campers and to help them start losing weight as well as teach them about how to live healthy on the outside.

Some of these weight loss camps provide weight-loss results of two to six pounds per week on average. Remember though, the more overweight the person participating, the more they will lose in the program. The overall results of these weight loss camps vary widely and depend on the quality of the program and the physical makeup of the person attending.

Some of the newer programs not only focus on weight loss, but also on changing lifestyle behaviors. Generally, experts believe these are key elements of an effective program.

There have been a number of recent reality shows on the subject such as the popular “The biggest Loser’.

Of course before beginning any weight loss regime, consult your physician.
