We have all heard that little saying at one point or another in our lives, most likely as children. Chances are that some of us still use it on our own children. The funny thing is that it isn’t just a line parent’s use, it is really true, and apples have been helping to keep people healthy since the time of Greek mythology. The holiday season is traditionally a difficult time for people to eat healthy. Natural spices and herbs do a lot more than add a touch of color to your kitchen, and a hint of unique taste to the foods you prepare. You don’t have to be a culinary expert to use them either. It is helpful to know which spice best brings out the full flavor of which food, but that is easy enough to figure out with a little help from a recipe book, or website. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and not just because it’s been hours since you last ate, and you are really hungry when you wake up. If I eat well, will I be well? Really, how important is nutrition?
Eating well is critical to living well. Everyone has heard the old saying, “you are what you eat”. And in today’s society, that would mean that we are just walking, talking chemical testing facilities. Unless we use our minds to decide what goes into our mouths. If we feed enough healthy food to our bodies, it will eventually stop craving all those delicious things that do us more harm than good.
Mother Nature must have known that people like color, so she made the most nutritious foods the most colorful. Fruits and vegetables that have the brightest, the darkest, and the most vivid colors hold the most vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.
